Bovenstaand een grafiek met de gemiddelde dagelijkse mijtenval over de periode 1 september tot 25 november 2022 van mijn teelt- en testvolken. De periode vanaf eind augustus tot medio november kent de hoogste mijtenval vanwege het krimpende broednest. De mijtenpopulatie krimpt van nature in de herfst net zoals het bijenvolk krimpt. Door geen behandeling toe te passen, selecteer je dus in ieder geval niet op de sterkste mijten, die de bestrijding hebben overleefd.
Bij in de zomer wel behandelde volken wordt een drempelwaarde aangehouden van 1 mijt per dag voor het eventueel niet toepassen van de oxaalzuur winterbehandeling. In onbehandelde sterke volken kom je vaak iets hoger uit.
Mijn onderzoek betreft 25 onbehandelde volken, die in 2 rands minipluskastjes zitten. Eén volk zit in een dadantkast. Een tweede dadantvolk heb ik vanwege de dagelijkse mijtenval van bijna 30 mijten per dag buiten deze grafiek gehouden.
De miniplusvolken worden jaarlijks opgekweekt vanuit onbehandelde broedaflegggers. Dit gebeurt al sinds 2016. Sommige volken, waarvan de naam begint met 19- of 21- zijn dus overjarig en dateren van 2019 of 2021.
Zes van de zesentwintig volken overstijgen een drempelwaarde van 2 mijten per dag. De hoogste waarde heeft het enige volk op 5,4 mm raat. Dit kan uiteraard op toeval berusten. Maar ieder jaar scoort dit volk op 5,4 mm raat hoger dan andere 4,9 volken.
Van alle lijnen scoren de B102, B02, A69, NN een zeer lage mijtenval/mijtenbesmetting. De Elgonlijn scoort stabiel laag in tegenstelling tot de S3-lijn. Hierop moet nog meer geselecteerd worden, deze vererft blijkbaar niet stabiel.
Komend jaar gaan de F1-dochters van laagst scorende p-moeren naar de productievolken en weer naar de bevruchtingsstations. Voor de zekerheid worden voordat er van deze moeren overgelarfd wordt nog een pintest gedaan om de hoog hygiënische eigenschappen bevestigd te krijgen.
